Are You Listening To Your Body?

As many of you know, I wrote about my knee pain in my last newsletter. It had been so intense that I was unable to write my newsletter for two months. I received many “welcome back” notes, and “encouragement” and “healing prayers”. Thank you all so very, very much.

One of the things that I enjoy about being an intuitive consultant and coach is that I am continually learning and meeting new people. I have continued my friendships with my buddy coaches. My buddy coach, Sue and I, like to share regularly. I had shared with her, some self guided meditations that I did to gain a deeper understanding of the recurring situation. These meditations were very helpful. She encouraged me to take my exploration a step further and talk to my knee.

So, at the suggestion of my buddy, coach Sue, I decided to ask my right knee what it wanted to say.
I felt ready to have a dialogue with my body.

Conversation with my right knee , June 24, 2010

I asked my right knee to tell me what it wanted to say and to show me an image first. I saw and heard a figure in black, crying and crying.

“What’s the problem? “I asked.

“What’s to become of me? What will I do if I am not sending you pain messages? I was just trying to keep you safe.”

I immediately thought about the children’s story, The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything.

In the story, all the clothes that had chased her through the woods and to her home, were crying. What was to become of them if they had no one to scare? She thought about it and suggested they arrange themselves as a scarecrow and scare the crows in the vegetable garden. That made them very happy.

So, I said to my right knee. “I appreciate that you have been trying to keep me safe. But, I know now that I am safe, I am in my safe home in a safe neighborhood. But, I can still use your help. ”

“Oh, how? ” The figure brightened up.

“I think it would be helpful if you could go around my body and check in and see where pain signals are trying to get my attention and tell me about it.

I will check in with you to get messages. And if I don’t check in with you, please send me an image of a black wall mounted telephone intercom that they use in homes. Do you think you can do that? ”

“Yes, yes I can do that. ”

I sensed a feeling that this wasn’t enough.

“I’m thinking,” I said ,”That it would be very helpful if you could ask my body parts what the pain message is.”

“I can do that,” said the figure.

“Actually, do you think that you could hold regular meetings and not only get messages from my body parts, but brainstorm with them what’s needed to function better and more harmonious.”

“Do you think you can do that? Would you like to do that? You would be my chief communications officer.”

“Oh, wow, yes, I would be honored to do that!!”

I was about to go write this conversation to Sue, but I thought that I should ask my knee first for permission.

“Would it be all right if I shared this conversation with my buddy, Sue?”

Right knee frowned. ” She might be critical of me.”

“Oh no, Sue is very accepting and encouraging. She will think that you are very competent and smart.”

“All right then,” knee said smiling. “You can tell Sue.”

This dialogue with my body released a lot of energy and a serene sense of well being. It’s been more than two weeks now, the pain is almost gone. I look forward to continuing dialogues with my body and increasingly joyful movements.
